OPAWA ROAD BRIDGE

£29.642 Tender Accepted

The Wilkins and Davies Construction Company, Ltd. was awarded the contract for the Opawa road bridge by the City Council on Wednesday evening.

The company’s tender was the lowest of three received—£29.642 The others were bv M M Mitchell. £31.975; and deal and Skurr. Ltd., £34.445. The contract is specified to be completed in nine months, with a bonus related to the time the road is closed to traffic. It is £lO for every day less than six months. The contractors have offered to complete the whole work in seven months and to have the road closed for four months, anticipating a £6OO bonus.

While the bridge Is being built a Bailey bridge will be erected as part of a detour.
