The injured knee was the one from which he had had a cartilege removed last year. The national selectors have been asked to name a replacement for him te the national refresher course which wtiU begin on Saturday ait Rotorua.

Hadfield first played for New Zealand in 1956 and scored 30 tries in international footbalL
