SIZES OF SCHOOLS

Increase May Be Planned (NZ. Press Association) LEVIN. April 18. There may be an Education Department plan to increase the size of a New Zealand secondary school to 2000 pupils, with an administrative head and two principals. At a board of managers’ meeting of the Horowihenua College, Levin. last evening, the principal (Mr A. Haley) mentioned the plan during a discussion on the maximum roll at the college. “There is a scheme afoot for a secondary school to go to 2000 and have an administrative head and two principals,” he told the meeting. A spokesman for the Education Department said this morning that “nothing official” had been agreed on in this subject. “I understand the department has its eye on a school,” Mr Haley said today.
