U.K. STOCK MARKET

Brighter Tone Seen (N.Z. Press Assn.-CopyrigM) LONDON. April 18. Second and more cheerful thought* on the Budget, better company results, and improvement on Wall Street all helped the stock market to begin a new account on April 11 with a bang which has continued this week The recovery made up losses caused by the initial Budget reactions and yesterday the "Financial Times” index reached its highest point this year. Shortage of stock in the market has also been among the contributing factors to higher prices. Many sections were bright, including steels, stores, and tobacco but one of the dull spots was the commercial television group under the weight of discouraging press comment on taxation. British funds were strong. There the demand for gilts and tins made the first move forward for months. INDICES Latest share prices indices are <s follows: New Vork.—Dow Jonee: Shares
