Concern At Delay With Pool

“I was most concerned to read in this morning’s paper about the possible delay with the new swimming centre for Jellie Park.” said Cr. V. P Rabbitte at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council last evening. He was commenting on a report in yesterday’s issue of ‘‘The Press" about the Government’s failure to confirm that a subsidy of £20.000 would be available for the £70.000 project. “I’m afraid that is the position,” said the chairman (Mr J. I. Colligan). “We cannot oroceed until we receive a definite reply, but at present the Minister concerned (Sir Leon Gotz) is out of the country for three weeks.”
