TROTTING Peerswick Expected To Win Again At Hutt Park

Peerswick should be untroubled to gain his thia! win for the season in the Roydon Two-year-old Stakes, a feature on the first night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s autumn meeting at Hutt Park Raceway today. Peers wide gave a dashing display of pacing when he outclassed his rivals in the New Zealand Welcome Stakes at Addiqgton. If he repeats that run it will take a better-than* average effort from his rivals if he is to be put to the test tonight.

Meadowmac paced a useful race for second in the New Zealand Welcome Stakes without really proving much of a threat to Peerswick. He should again earn some of the stake, although he will find it hard to win on a firm track.

Our Change, which has had three wins and a fourth from his four starts this season, is credited with being the best in his age-group in the North Island. His most recent win was at Hawera last Saturday when he beat Old Beason and Victura fairly easily. A gelding by Gold Change from Our Amy. Our Change is trained at Cambridge by P. Skousgaard. He is obviously a smart young pacer, but he is unlikely to measure up to the top southern candidates in the race.

Scottish Laddie. which earlier in the season was at G. E. Noble’s Yaldhurst stables, is now back with J, S Hunter at Trentham, He will be bracketed with Victura. a useful third at Hawera on Saturday. Scottish Laddie failed in the same race, but earlier he finished a sound fourth at Methven. Whaka won a division of an open handicap event at Hawera on Tuesday. This Garrison gelding is above average in ability, but he is not too reliable at the start. If he gets away on terms with his rivals, he could be hard to beat. Hindu Prince has shown promise in his racing, although he was a little disappointing at Addington He is usually reliable and could take part in the finish. Falstaff, a winner at Methven, Disband and Old Beason are others to have shown speed in their races this season, but it is difficult to see any of them extending Peerswick. The Trotters Uteena looks favourably placed on the front to gain her fourth win for the season in the Tawa Handicap. She finished strongly for fourth in the race won by All Bey at Methven last month and will have to show very little improvement on that run to pay expenses at this meeting. Fiammetta was a place-getter on the first day at Addington, finishing boldly for a close second to Frogman. She met trouble last Saturday and finished towards the rear. Fiammetta looks to be back to the good form she showed earlier in her career and she could be hard to beat tonight /©ell's Lad did not race with much luck at Hawera. He has seldom trotted a bad race this season and could be the pick of the northern horses in this field.

Dreaming, Queen’s Cord, Straight Line and Tracey's Pal are others expected to race prominently. Light Oak’s twp second placings against the pacers on the first two days at Hewers will ensure her strong support in the Armstrong Handicap in spite of her handicap of 36 yards. Light Oak has won three races this season and has been unplaced only twice. She has improved considerably after each race and looks set to take a high rating in the next 12 months. Her opponents in this race are not of a very high class and she should be much too good for most of them. Oakletgh Lad was not a danger at Addington last week, but he trotted boldly at the Methven trials a few days earlier. He has raced well on previous visits to Hutt Park and could be the hardest .for Light Oak to beat.

Gay Jillian dead-heated for first with Harbour Light at Addington last Saturday, but was relegated to third for breaking just short of the post. She has not been very consistent in recent months, but she could show up. Fiammetta. Safety Catch and Tracey's Pal should do best of the others. The double will be run on

the Pope Handicap and the Visitors’ Handicap. The weather cleared in Wellington yesterday afternoon after heavy overnight rain. A few more showers are forecast, but there is every chance that the track will recover and provide good going.
