Gaines Offered To German Club (N.Z, Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 16. The New Zealand Football Association council recommended tonight that if a Christchurch team was Involved, this year's South Island Chatham Cup final should be played in
Normally the South Island final is rotated between various centres, but In view of the dli-ect television facilities at Christchurch the council decided that every effort should be made to have the southern final played in that city. The N.Z.F.A. has offered matches on June 1 and 3 to the Karlsruhe (West Germany) team. It will be touring Hong Kong Malaya and Indonesia. If a New Zealand visit eventuates the team will travel on to the United States, via Tahiti. Otago’s withdrawal from the Football Association trophy competition this season led to a decision to seek a replacement from a minor association. Invitation* have been sent to Poverty Bay. Waikato. Nelson. Southland and Manawatu. The new team will be chosen by play-off or ballot.
