OFFENCES WITH NIECE

Man Guilty Of Three Charges

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, April 15

A married man with five children, Lotovale Perese. aged 30, a butcher, pleaded guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today to three charges involving sexual intercourse with a niece.

He was charged that on June 26, July 24 and August 7 last year he had sexual intercourse with a girl then aged 17, not being his wife and living with him as a member of the family and under his care or protection.

Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., convicted Perese on each charge and remanded him to next Monday for a probation officer’s report and sentence. Sergeant R. C. Anderson said the girl was a niece of toe accused. She went to live with him and his family in Kelston so she could go to school there. She was later found to be pregnant. The girl ran away from home in February this year and she was later discovered in a flat in Point Chevalier. The baby was born and Perese admitted he was the father. Accused was not employed because of illness.
