Opposition to the Official Secrets Ad came yesterday from the British Independent Labour Party’s annual conference
The conference adopted a resolution condemning the seizure of anti-nuclear documents from nuclear disarmers or, the Aldermaston march on Friday It referred specifically to the "Spies for Peace" leaflet claiming to give secret details of how Britain would be governed in nuclear war
The leaflets are alleged to contravene the Official Secrets Act. Conference speakers yesterday claimed the act saved the Government from embarrassment
The independent Labour Party a Left-wing Socialist body adopted another resolution condemning all nations possessing nuclear weapons It urged British unilateral disarmament and withdravyal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation
It supported any strike, goslow or other form of protest against the continued manufacture and testing of nuclear arms by Bntain The Independent Labour Party has no representative in the House of Commons
