MODEL AIRCRAFT CHAMPIONSHHIPS
S.I. Tides Held At Ashburton
Miniature flying machines buzzed busily round Ashburton at the week-end competing for the honours in the fifteenth South Island Model Aeroplane championships. Organised by the Ashburton club, the contest attracted almost 100 entrants with several hundred model aircraft Although most were from the South Island there were two competitors from the North Island. Almost 500 spectators at Ashburton Domain watched Saturday's control-line even'.s which included team racing, speed, scale, and aerobatics classes. Free flight events were held at Seafield yesterday in light rain which prevented good times being recorded. Trophies were presented by ths president of the Ashburton branch of the New Zea* land Air League, Mr J. B. Cullen, at a function last evening. Results are:— Control Lint Events Speed om: J. G.
