MURDER SQUAD INQUIRIES

No Christchurch Lead

The homicide squad has completed its investigation in Christchurch connected with the murder of the Nelson taxi-driver, Peter Banham, at Hope on February 21. The lead it was following proved false. The leader of the squad. Detective-Inspector A. I. Knapp, said the hunt for the murderer switched to Christchurch after abandoned clothing was found in the area where Mr Banham died. Inquiries in Christchurch established that the clothing had nothing to do with the murder.
