INDONESIAN VISIT
China Asks For Security (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, April 9. China has asked Indonesia to make extraordinary security preparations for the forthcoming visit of China’s Chairman (Mr Liu Shao-chi). Indonesia's Foreign Minister (Dr. Subandrio) announced yesterday. He said Peking had asked that “special attention” be given to security “because it is believed that subversive activities will be intensified during the visit.” Dr. Subandrio spoke to reporters today after a 30minute meeting with officers of the Supreme War Administration and the Djakarta Army garrison concerning arrangements for Mr Liu’s visit.
Indonesian Government spokesmen today declined to confirm reports that Mr Liu accompanied by China’s Foreign Minister (Marshal Chen Yi>, will arrive on April 11. Sources close to the Government said the arrival date of the Chinese Head of State had already been changed twice for security reasons. His original scheduled arrival date was April 6, but this was altered to April 16. then brought back to the present tentative April 11.
