Swimming NEW LEVY RULE SUGGESTED
Clubs Failing To Meet Obligations
Three clubs —Air Force. Cheviot and Rangiora—had failed to meet a levy requested of them to assist the category B swimmers of the Empire Games squad, it was reported at the quarter-yearly meeting of the Canterbury Swimming Centre last evening. On the suggestion of Mr S. Williams, it was decided to recommend to the management committee that a rule be inserted to the effect that the centre can "police” clubs that are failing to meet their “obligations.” , Mr W. S. Yorst recalled that at a previous meeting. the Rangiora club had asked if there was a rule in the books that permitted the Centre to take action against clubs that defauled in this way. Upon being told that no such rule existed, they had said that nothing could be held against them.
In that case, said Miss D Brown, it is our job to see that one is inserted smartly. On the proposal of the secretary. Mr T. J. Whitta. it was decided to raise the age-limit for the Alan Bliss Memorial Cup to under 12 years. This would gain a better link with the age groups, said Mr Whitta.
