TROTTING Adios Heather Dashingly Wins Methven Heat

Adios Heather, which will have her first start since November in the Au Revoir Handicap at Addington on Saturday, showed dash when she won her heat of the free-for-all at the Methven trials yesterday. The other heat was w r on by Fox Able, which is not engaged on Saturday.

Although they failed to win, the stablemates, Lrrall and Peel, showed that they had taken no harm from earlier races at Addington when they finished close up and with something in reserve. Both should be hard to beat on Saturday.

Dark Louise, which is back being trained at Methven by R. Harris, forced most of the pace in the first heat of the free-for-all. Fox Able, which has again been eliminated at Addington on Saturday, dashed through in the straight from a handy position and drew out to win convincingly by four lengths after taking 3min 37sec for the 13 furlongs. the last half-mile in Imin 4 3-ssec, a smart effort in the blustery conditions. Fox Able has no immediate engagements, which is unfortunate, as he is very fit. Aerobee, after being near the tail of the field most of the way, showed speed to challenge the leaders racing to the straight She ran on to take second by a head from Massacre, which was towards the rear after breaking soon after the start. Urrall a candidate for the Easter Cup on Saturday, was one of the best beginners, but he drifted in the middle stages. He was pulled wide in the straight and was making ground at the finish right up in fourth place He was a good fifth in the Williams Handicap last Saturday and will not be without a chance this week. Stand In showed that he had trained on well lately] when he got up for fifth, ahead of Rothesay, which was pacing easily at the finish Rothesay has not raced since December 1. The last-named was slow away and then improved to be handy racing to the straight. She was not pushed and looks ready to race well in the Waikouaiti Cup. Second Heat

Peel forced most of the pace in the second heat of the free-for-all, with Adios

Heather about fifth most of the way. Peel was pacing easily all the way and he was not pushed when Adios Heather challenged inside the furlong. Adios Heather finished full of running and won by two lengths. She is booked to race at Hutt Park after the Addington meeting.

Monapat, which is to race at Waikouaiti and Roxburgh, made up ground for third after being slow early. She should not be long returning to form. Burns Rival, Messala. Peebles and Dietnan Lad were close up. ahead of Toll Call and Morsel. Adios Heather took 3min 39 3-ssec for the 13 furlongs, the last half-mile in Imin 6 l-ssec.
