Softball “RIDICULOUS RULES”

Council Upholds Decision (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 8. An appeal by the Auckland Softball Umpires’ Association against recent decisions of the Auckland Softball Association was disallowed by the New Zealand Softball Council on Saturday, states a supplied report. The appeal was lodged following a "strike” of Auckland umpires after one of their number was not upheld by the Auckland Softball Association, after ordering a Cornwall player out of an Auckland competition game. The New Zealand association said the issue needed resolution because of a “somewhat ridiculous set of rules.’’

The council said the player was the victim of poor legislation and should be given the benefit of the doubt.

The female tick is more tenacious than the male, according to a United States Navy medical study. It took more than a quarter of a pound of pressure to remove a female from a rabbit’s ear, while the male could be pried loose with little more than half that amount of pull.
