"Th* Press" Special gervte* WAIMATE April 8. Buyers were present from a wide area when the annual sale of Downlands and Birchwood station* calves was held tn the Studholme saleyarda. Birchwood polled Hereford heifer calve* realised up to £25 ss. with good quality £2O to £23 Good Hereford steer cslves £l4 10* to £l7 10* medium to £l3 5s small from £8 Iss; Aberdeen Angus cross steer calves £ll to £l7 5s heifer calves £lO 15s to £l2 There was good competition for Downlands calves, which also came forward in excellent condition Good quality Aberdeen Angus steer calves sold at £l9 to £2O s*. with others from £l4; Shorthorn steer calves sold to £l9: good Aberdeen Angus cross heifer calves £l3 15s to £ll others from £ll 10s: rood Shorthorn heifer calves. £l2 IM to £l3 10s
