SENTENCE ON TEACHER

Judge Suggests Postponement (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 9. It was always regrettable when a person of good character came before the Court on such a charge, Mr Justice McGregor said in the Supreme Court today when he dismissed an appeal by Spiro Bernard Zavos, aged 25, a teacher, against a sentence of a month’s imprisonment for driving while disqualified. His Honour asked whether in view of a reference from the principal of the college where Zavos was employed, and who regarded his services as essential, there was any provision for postponing the serving of the sentence until the May holidays. Counsel said they would make inquiries as to that possibility.
