First Battle and White World look the best prospects in their respective engagements at the Wairio Trotting Club's annual meeting tomorrow. Overnight was a runaway winner at Winton last week. A step up to the improvers class should not embarrass him greatly. First Battle Xiould be capable of giving the three-year-olds 36 yards and a beating in the Wairaki Stakes. He was a particularly good fourth at Winton last week after losing several lengths at the start. White World was a Winton winner which should have little difficulty in accounting for the Duncan Handicap. The weather has been fine and the track will provide an excellent racing surface with the sting out of it. The double will be on the Wairio Handicap and the Wairaki Stakes for which the Winton trainer, W. Cosgrove will produce the favourite combination Mannequin Parade and First Battle.
