Increase In Ratios
The trading bank’s statutory minimum deposits with the Reserve Bank have been increased by £5.4m this week. With effect from yesterday, the banks’ reserve ratios have been raised from 15 per cent, of demand liabilities and 5 per cent, of time liabilities to 17 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively. The last change in the ratios was on March 1, when the ratios were lowered from 39 per cent, and 10 per cent, respectively.
