Close Watch At Mine (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Mar 31. A team of six men is keeping a 24-hour watch at the site of the fire which broke out m underground workings at the Maramarua coalmine isi Ttiesday.

Hoses are occasionally being used to cool down the sealed entrances to two tunnels leading to the workings Earth - moving machines sealed off the blaze on Friday Mr G W McGregor, the mine manager, said tonight 'hat the fire had been suc•rssfully contained. The main task now, he said, was to keep the face as cool as possible. It would be some time before 'he underground fire burned out.
