PROTEST IN TURKEY

Ex-President Released (N.Z^.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ANKARA, March 24. About 2000 students chanting ‘‘To the gallows” demonstrated today outside the home of the deposed former President. Mr Celal Bayar. The 79-year-old former Turkish leader was gaoled for life on charges of crimes against the Constitution. He was released on Friday for health reasons. Students also stoned the headquarters of the opposition Justice Party, the followers of which yesterday welcomed Mr Bayar when he arrived from Kayseri, central Turkey. Some windows were smashed. About 300 students later tonight clashed with Bayar supporters. About 20 students and two police were injured before military units quelled the fighting.
