Golf S. AFRICAN OPEN
Indian Leads First Round (N.Z.PJL.-Reuter—Copyright) DURBAN, March 15. An Indian golfer. Sewsunker “Papwa” Sewgolum, led the field after the first round of the South African Open yesterday. He seared a first round 70 to head the cream of South Africa’s white amateur and professional golfers. Sewgolum is the only nonwhite ever allowed to play in the open. A month ago he won the Durban Open title from a class, all-white field. He later collected his cheque and trophy outside in pouring rain. Members refused to let him in the “whites only" clubhouse. Sewgolum led by one stroke from G. Fanner and B. Keyter. .
