(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 14. The recent announcement of the first appointment—t at of the Commissioner of Transport to a position covered by the Higher Appointments Board called for comment on behalf of the Public Service, the president of the Public Service Association (Mr E J. Batt) said today “We believe," he said, “that hie public interest would be much better served if all Public Service appointments y ere subject to the verification process of appeals. Then the claims of any other aspirant for the position could be examined before an impartial tribunal.”
