P.M.’s Son Fraud Victim
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Mar. 14. Detectives are toterviewh»g people who frequent a Melbourne hotel about a £1570 fraud on Mr Robert lan Menzies, younger son of the Prime Minister. Sir Robert Menzies.
Three weeks ago. Mr Menzies, who is 40, had two cheque forms stolen from his room in the hotel in which he was staying. His signature wss forged on the stolen cheques and one for £920 and the other for £650 were presented at hte bank.
Blunt said that the offence was the only black mark on a good record. Mr Roper said that it was a planned crime, for which materials, including gelignite, bad been assembled.
