New Title And Duties

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 16. The War History Branch of the Department of Internal Affairs has been reconstituted and renamed the Historical Publications Branch, it wz announced today. It will undertake the department’s work in general historical research and publications. Its first task will be to complete and publish the remaining five volumes of the 50-volume war history series. Then, officers will be transferred to work cm historical publications. The Minister of Interna) Affairs (Sir Leon Gotz) said the task of recording New Zealand’s part in World War II was well advanced. The new branch would be a small, highly-specialised unit whose officers would well equipped to fulfil the department’s obligations in historical research and publishing.
