FISH BEAT M.C.C.

Dexter Misses Catch Salmon was on the menu last evening for five members of the M.C.C, party who went fishing on Thursday. But the catch was a presentation to them after they had spent some pleasant but unrewarding hours at the Rakaia Gorge. E. R. Dexter, L. J. Coldwell, P H. Parfitt. B. R. Knight and S Cowan, the masseur, were taken to the Rakaia Gorge by Mr D. L. Ambler, a keen salmon fisherman. Only Dexter met with any luck—but the fish he hooked got away.

Dexter was using a strange rod and, as he explained, he tried to put the rod into reverse but it went into overdrive, and the fish took advantage of this to free itself. However, Mr Ambler took an 111 b salmon which he gave to the M.C.C. players who arranged tor it to be prepared for their dinner.
