American farms provided an estimated 5000 million dollars worth of farm products for the export market in 1962. equalling the record set in 1961, according to the United States Agricultural Department. The department’s economic research service said export sales for dollars were 3400 million dollars —about the same as in the previous year. The value of Food-For-Peace exports amounted to about 1600 million dollars in both 1961 and 1962. Exports of wheat and flour, cotton and tobacco declined, while exports of feed grains, oil seeds and products, rice, fruits and vegetables increased. Japan, Canada and Britain, in that order, were the top markets for United States farm products in 1962.
