FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and is moving towards the North Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate, variable winds, tending to north-easterlies; fine with mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. West Coast.—Moderate, variable winds, westerlies .predominating; cloudy with scattered showers chiefly in South Westland; moderate temperatures. Outlook: scattered showers. Nelson and Marlborough.—Fresh northerlies about Cook Strait; moderate northerlies elsewhere; fine with mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy.
