Record For Trueman?
About 10 yean ago a young Yorkshire tut bowler spreadeagled the stumps of an elegant Oxford University batsman. As the batsman walked past the bowler to the pavilion he remarked “Good ball" The bowler glared at his victim and replied, “It was wasted on thee." That bowler, F. 8. Trueman, probably has felt many times since that he has wasted his best balls on inferior batsmen, but at Lancaster Park on Friday every wicket he takes will be as welcome as sunshine in his native Brad- j ford. True- I man needs fl
only two more wickets to break the test record held by his English colleague, J. B. Statham. But he does not need to break any more records to lay his claim to be placed among the truly great cricketers at all time. His aggressive fast bowling has already >roved that - xua batting has the same violent approach, and Trueman has probably aor* entertainment value as a batsman than many cen-tury-makers, But | above all Truer man is a personality ... rare in b?a. these ■Wjfeb, days 1 cricket-J-'l ing con- | formity.
