* Last Meeting.—Because of f tack of rapport, no further ■ meetings will be held by the Australian Club of Canterbury This was decided at a recent meeting of the club, which has been in recess for a year. It was decided that £33 would be given to the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s fund. Mr C. Lowden, who presided, thanked * committee members for the work they had done over the "'-'years. I Work For Music Society.— The sum of £3OO was raised by the women’s auxiliary of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society tor the society to ; buy music and for a donation * to the travel fund, says a report from the auxiliary's annual meeting. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mrs P. C. Graham; deputyp reside nt, Mrs J. Colthart; secretary-treasurer, Mrs N. Hayward. Mrs R. Warr was elected to the committee. Talk On Lapland.—Miss Margaret Powell gave a talk on Lapland at a recent meet- ; ing of the Lincoln College . Women’s Group. She ■ described a hitch-hiking trip undertaken with another girl through the Arctic regions of Norway, Sweden and Finland. Colour slides of the - scenery and tiny settlements ;of the area and of the tents and animals of the nomadic Lapps, illustrated her talk.
