Plans For Next Saturday

Became last Saturday was lost through rain the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s senior men's competition will now definitely be completed on a knock-out basis. The possibility of the loss of a day was allowed for by the competitions committee when it made the draw for two sections for the second round so that each section could complete a round if three days were available, but a competition winner would be found if only two days were played. Last Saturday's draw will now be played next Saturday Section A: Cashmere v. University; Edgeware v. Elmwood. Section B: Woolston v. North Linwood; Barrington v. United. The Cashmere-University match will be played in the afternoon, the rest in the morning, all at Wilding Park. March 23 la set aside for representative fixtures so the previous draw for March 1# will be played on March 30. This is winners v. winners and losers v. losers in each section. Thus the winner of the competition will be the successful team in the section A winners' match. If another day is lost the committee will have to consider playing on April 6. The senior women’s competition needed only two days to complete two rounds so it can finish on March 30. In both senior reserve men and second grade men. last Saturday's matches will be played next Saturday. Barrington and Edgeware will play off in section I of the second grade mixed competition to qualify to meet the winner of section 11, which has not yet been completed. First grade matches will be held according to the draw.
