Goose Shooting At Ellesmere
The special Canada goose season in the Ellesmere district “seems to have been a very good one,” the secretary of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society (Mr E. J. C. Hay) said yesterday The season will end tomorrow.
"While we have no official returns as yet, I have heard privately that parties of two or three shooters have had bags of up to 100 in under a week,” said Mr Hay. “There are still plenty of geese left. One farmer told me only the other day he had seen a flock of several hundreds rising from one of his paddocks,” he added.
