Planning For New Book

Before the end of this year, a new book on New Zealand and New Zealanders will be published. In Christchurch during the week-end, Mr M. Shadbolt, of Dunedin, and Mr B. Brake, formerly of New Zealand but now living 'in Tokyo, met the editor of Whitcombe and Tombs. Ltd (Mr D Lawson) to discuss plans for the new book. Mr Shadbolt will be writing the text for the 148-page book, and Mr Brake will supply the colour and black and white photographs which will take up about 100 pages. The photographs have been taken during recent trips Mr Brake has made through the country. "We ace moat enthusiastic about tlu« new book, and we believe it will be the best about New Zealand and New Zealanders yet produced," said Mr Lawson. “Although the great emphasis will be on the scenic attractions, New Zealanders will .find a lot about themselves as a people.” Mr Lawson said the book

should appeal equally to New Zealanders and to tourists wanting to gam a background to the country.
