Bealey Avenue Traffic
Sir,—The reeidento on and near Bealey avenue and London street and Whitcombe street will breathe a silent prayer when the school children finish this term. Some of them have had a brush with death in getting across this intersection. We have helped at times; but like our efficient traffic inspectors, we cannot be on hand at all times We hope that soon, or in the future, something urgently will be done to control or divert a goodly portion of at least the heavy traffic which commences before 6 a.m. and with its noise, and sometimes unnecessary speed, makes this corner the noisiest and most dangerous section of our city—Yours, etoj FOR LESS NOISE AND LESS FUMES. December 16, 1962. [The Traffic Superintendent of the Christchurch City Council (Mr J. F. Thomas) said: “The traffic committee has agreed to the Installation of lane markings and some parking restrictions in this area, and this matter has been discussed with the Ministry of Works for implementation.”!
