Garden Party For Hospital

A total of £244 was raised at the annual garden party of toe Friends of St George’s held in toe hospital's Hadfield Garden on Saturday Opened by Mrs W. A. Pyatt, wife of toe Dean of Christchurch, toe garden party was attended by nearly 900 persona Stalls manned by members sold a variety of goods including sweets, produce, cakes, handwork, and afternoon "tea. Also present were the Dean, the president of the “Friends’’ (Mrs Janet Williams) the chairman of toe North Canterbury Hospital Board (Dr. L. C. L. Averill), the Lady Superintendent of St George's Hospital (Mrs Gwen Goodwin) and toe hospital’s chaplain (Canon H. S Hamilton).
