BELLE VUE SUCCEEDS
Invercargill Cup
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 24. Belle Vlue scored her third win in as many starts from D. Todd’s Mataura stable when she turned in a grand staying performance to win the Invercargill Trotting Cup, main event on the second day of the Invercargill Trotting Club’s summer meeting at the Southland Raceway on Saturday. The cup was the second leg of the double.
The first leg. the Southland Challenge Stakes, was won in dashing style by Procella. The double returned £47 5s for £l.
The racing was held In overcast weather and light rain began to fall early in the evening. The track was in good order.
After the running of the City Handicap the performance of Cardiogram, owned and driven by C. H. G. Irvine, was questioned by the stipendiary stewards. After a rather prolonged Inquiry Cardiogram was declared Ineligible to start at a totalisator meeting up to and ineluding March 16. 1963. Results:—
