Gty Scheme To Go Ahead (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, February 22 Agreement has been reached between the Health Department and the Christchurch City Council over the method of dividing flats proposed in the £90.000 scheme to provide 52 single-unit pensioners' cottages in Dunarnan street. Ltnwood. The Minister of Housing (Mr Rae) said today that the first he knew of the difficulty war when he read a leading article in “The Press” on the subject He made immediate inquiries, and learned that the Health Department, as the Government’s agent, had withheld its approval because it was not satisfied with the council's intention to use dividing walls made of plaster-board. Mr Rae asked his department to confer with the Health Department on the matter. As a result, the Health Department has withdrawn its objection, and the City Council has been informed There is now no reason why the council cannot proceed without delay to raise the necessary funds and proceed with the project.
