A penalty of W per cent, i* chargeable on any amount unpaid after March 7, M®. Where a notice of assessment of terminal tax for IM3 has been issued the amount of any provisional tax payable is included in the notice. This will have been recalculated to take into account the tax reductions for the current income year as provided for in amending legislation last year. The notice should be presented or forwarded when making payment. Where a notice of assessment of terminal tax for 19® has not been received, taxpayers may either:— (a) Pay an amount equal to the first instalment which was due on August 7.19®, or (b) Recalculate the provisional tax, using the amended provisional tax tables (IR 3C(A)) which incorporate the tax reductions for the current year, and pay the balance after deducting the first instalment payment. In these cases first instalment receipts should be presented or forwarded when making payment. This will ensure that the nature of the payment is correctly recorded. A copy of table IR 3C(A) may be obtained from any office of the Inland Revenue Department. If the provisional tax has already been paid” full, no second instalment payment is necessary. Provisional tax may be paid on estimated income where it is believed that the income for the year ending March 31, 19®, will be lower than the previous year's income.
