At the time Double was following Gold View, which was attempting to take a gap. The gap dosed before Gold View could get through, causing W. D. Skelton to check his mount and come back on Double.

R. Thompson, the rider of Bar Kochba in the Balmoral Handicap, was asked why his mount lost ground near the mile. It was found that Hullabaloo (W. H. Beck), which wes hanging, had forced Magic Itate (W- D. Skelton) and Blue Harken (R. W. Donovan) towards the runntag rail As a result Bar Kochba had clipped the beds of Blue Harken. The incident was accidental. K. Reggett, the rider of Studio in the Queen Elizabeth n Handicap, was cautioned for allowing his mount to move in slightly after leaving the state.
