(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 17« M. Speden, formerly of Christchurch, won five titles at the Wellington track and field championships on Saturday. Speden. the national decathlon champion, broke the provincial javelin record with a throw of 215 ft 714 in, and also took the pole vault, long jump, high jump and 120 yards hurdles.

Office Damaged.— Lightning may have been responsible for a %■€ which caused fairly extensive damage in the office of the Zeaiandia Soap, Candle and Trading Company, Ltd., at Belfast yesterday afternoon. The fire broke out in the switchboard cupboard. Units from the St. Albans and Central stations attended the blaze.
