Pianist’s Sight Restored

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, February 15.

The blind Maori pianist, Kawana Pohe, aged 24, of Wanganui, is now touring West Germany with the ‘Maori Hi-five Band” after having 90 per cent, of his sight restored by London surgeons.

Mr Pohe was discharged from Moorfleld’s Eye Hospital, London, after a long series of operations and a corneal graft to save his sight. The band toured New Zealand and Australia in 1960 and 1961 to raise the money for Kawana Pohe’s treatment.
