HIGH-PRICED BULL

Close Relative In N.Z.

Lindertis Evulse, the 13-momth-old Scottish Aberdeen Angus bull which made history at the Perth sales last week when it sold for a world record price of 60,000 gns. to an American buyer, is closely related to a bull imported into New Zealand by Mr F, A. Elliott, of Alton Downs, Marlborough. Writing to “The Press” Mr Elliott says that Electronic of Lindertis, which he purchased at the Perth sales last year where the bull was December class first prize winner, and Lindertis Evulse are both among the few sons of Jubu Eric of Wych Cross, which was exported from Scotland to the Argentine. A daughter of Jubu was also the Perth female champion last year. “Electronic comes from the same female family and has a common maternal grandsire as the Perth champion,” says Mr Elliott. “His calves are eagerly awaited in the Brackenfield herd.”

Lindertis Evulse, owned by the Lindertis Company, Ltd., Lindertis, Kirriemuia, Angus, Scotland was sold to Blackwatch Farms, Fishkill Plains, New York state. According to the report received by “The Press”

from London the price was 60,000 gns., but Dalgety and and New Zealand Loan’s news service quotes a price of 75,000 gns. According to the news sen-ice the company’s stud stock spokesma-i in the United Kingdom says that Lindertis Evulse was calved on December 13,1961, and was by Jubu Eric of Wych Cross from Evelyn 2nd of Lindertis. He was considered to be the best bull ever bred at Lindertis and was a full brother to Evana of Lindertis, sold some time ago to Canada for £1250.

Jubu Eric of Wych Cross was from the famous line of Harviestoun Juana Ericas. His sire, Newhouse Jewlian Eric, was regarded as one of the best Angus bulls ever bred, having won 49 championships including the Royal Highland and Royal English show (twice). He was the top breeding sire of 1959. Another high price at Perth this year was 22,500gns for the reserve senior champion Islabank Jurado Eric owned by Mr W. R. Colville, Islabank. Coupar Angus, Perthshire, and bought by a local (British) breeder.
