Mirage IV Crashes

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Feb. 14. France’s prototype atom bomber crashed near Orleans yesterday, official sources said today. The crew of two escaped by ejector seat but the pilot, a captain, broke both legs on landing. The other occupant, a major, was unhurt. The sources said the aircraft. a supersonic Mirage IV, was the first prototype. It had been flying for three years and had logged 400 flying hours. France’s nuclear strike force plans provide in the first instance for a force of 50 Mirage IV planes carrying atomic bombs.
