(N.Z. Preu Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 14. New Zealand ended the first day with a win and a loss to the third croquet test against Australia at New Plymouth today. In one rubber, the New Zealend pair did not have a look In. but in the other the New Zealanders came from 19 points down in the first game to score ■ thrilling victory. Results were:—

Doubles— H. C. Ford and J. Prince (New Zealand) beat Mesdames E. Rudder and C. H. Cathcart (Australia), 26-19, 26-9: L. Mason and Mrs M. Harrison (Australia) beat Mrs B. A. Jarden and A. J. Stephana (New Zealand), 26-0, 26-13.
