American Left Trust For University In Will

DUNEDIN, February 12. Because her grandfather prospered as a hotelkeeper in Dunedin 100 years ago, an AJmerican woman has remembered the University of Otago in her will The £7200 New Zealand estate of Miss Florence Evelyn Stanwood, of New York, will be placed in trust. At first it will benefit two relatives and then the University of Otago. The money in the New Zealand estate originated from her grandfather, Mr William Kennedy, who in the 1860's ha<k the Ship Inn, on the present site of the Century Theatre. He also owned land in South Dunedin. Miss Stanwood visited New Zealand before World War II and was an enthusiast for the country and the Commonwealth. She believed that if her grandfather had madO’his money here then it should remain in New Zealand. The income from the trust will eventually go to the university for the promotion and encouragement of political and international affairs It will be known as the William Kennedy memorial trust Although Miss Stanwood suggested possible applications at the income, she gave TV Fault A new cause of a fire was recorded in the January list presented by the Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. R. Osmond* to the Christchurch Metro poll tan Fire Board last evening. It was a short circuit in a television set. The fire was extinguished by CO2.
