Ernesto Gavilan today conceded yesterday’s general election to the President, General Alfredo Stroessner. and his ruling Colorado Party. With about half the votes counted the totals were 234,531 for the Colorado Party and 25.680 for Mr Gavilan’s Liberal Party faction. A total of 13.992 blank ballots was cast —a protest planned by other, larger Opposition groups after the President barred them from offering candidates in the election, the first one in 34 years in which any Opposition candidates ran.
