Holed But No Fires

Two American-flag vessels collided in the fog off the New Jersey coast tonight, punching large holes in both sh ips. the Coast Guard reported.

There was no fire, and no injuries were reported. The collision, of undetermined cause, was between the Steel King, a 492 ft vessel bound for Baltimore. Maryland, and the Atlantic Trader, a 572 ft freighter bound for Revere, Massachussets, the Associated Press reported. Both ships suffered damage above the waterline, the Steel King sustaining a 40ftwide hole in its hull.
