FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A trough of low pressure at present over the North Island is moving eastwards. An anticyclone centred near Tasmania is moving towards New Zealand. Forecast:— Marlborough and Nelson.—Fresh, occasionally strong, southerlies about coastal Marlborough, otherwise moderate easterlies; some scattered rain at first but becoming partly cloudy by afternoon, except for showers about the Kaikoura coast and the Sounds. Outlook: partly cloudy. Canterbury.—Southerlies decreasing; partly cloudy apart from a few isolated showers. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; partly cloudy and mild. Outlook: partly cloudy. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
