Paroled Man Gaoled

Edward Bonner Collin*, aged 63, was sent to gaol for five years by Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Dunedin today for sentence on 16 charges of false pretences and one of obtaining credit by fraud. Detective-Sergeant E. R. Tyson said the offences to which Collins had pleaded guilty involved cashing vsdue. less cheques from a stolen cheque book, from an overdrawn account of Collins’, and with borrowed cheque forms.
Property ’to the value ot £l6l Os 9d and £205 14s in cash had been obtained. Collins had been released last year on licence from preventive detention for similar offences.
“The Minister of Justice will probably also recall you to complete your term of preventive detention," said the Magistrate.
