Auckland Wool 44.95d per lb

AUCKLAND, February 1. The average price of 44.95 d per lb realised at the second main Auckland wool sale held on January 14 and 15, was 7.82 d, dr 21.1 per cent., higher than in January, 1962. This was the highest average recorded at an Auckland wool sale for two years. The total proceeds from the sale amounted to £3,509,053, a rise of 30.2 per cent, on last January, when the total wool cheque was £2,605,834. Bigger Offering The total offering rose from 53,481 bales to 55,463 bales of which 55,304 bales were sold, a rise of 3220 on the previous year. The secretary of the Auckland Woolibrokers’ Association (Mr A. C. Rains) said that passings totalled only 159 bales, the lowest since 1960. The total weight of wool sold was 18,734,1471 b, an increase of 1,309,6461 b, raising the average weight a bale from 334.51 b to 338.71 b. The average price for each bale rose from £54 19s 6d to £63 9s.
